Florence Mabie     Flossie Receiving Her 30 Year Service Award in 2002

Florence R. "Flossie" Mabie, 89, formerly of 220 Southlake Drive, and currently a resident of the Woodlands Senior Center, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at her residence.
She was born May 31, 1919, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Clarence and Lillian Toll Streeter. She was a graduate of Goodrich High School, Class of 1936.
On Aug. 24, 1940, she married Gerald C. Mabie at Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1990.
Mrs. Mabie was a lifetime member of the Church of Peace. She was a lifetime member of the Fond du Lac Yacht Club, the Nauti-Gals, and very active in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 4-1, having served different offices, past Vice Flotilla Commander, treasurer, public relations officer, and she taught water safety to school children. She worked many years on Walleye Weekend, attending to the radios for the Coast Guard. Mrs. Mabie and her husband, Gerald, did rescue work on the south end of Lake Winnebago for many years. Mrs. Mabie worked at Wisconsin Telephone Company, 45 Sheboygan St., Wayne Motors, Star Plumbing & Heating Company, and the Boy Scouts of America, Bay Lakes Council.
Surviving is a brother, Mel (Shirley) Streeter of Fond du Lac; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Her parents; her husband, Gerald on April 3, 1992; two brothers, Alvin and Eugene Streeter; a sister, Joyce Frank; and two nephews preceded her in death.

Visitation: Visitation for Mrs. Florence R. "Flossie" Mabie will be on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.
 
Services: Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at the funeral home. The Rev. Keith Weiland will officiate, and burial will be at Estabrooks Cemetery.
 

 

Cyril Bertram  Cyril and Lynda enjoying their boat in Cherokee Village

Cyril (Bert) J. Bertram, 74 of Cherokee Village, AR; formerly of Fond Du Lac, WI. Died August 19, 2008 at Arkansas University Hospital. He was born October 31, 1933, the son of the late Alex and Loretta Bertram.

Cyril was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member and chaplain of the Elk’s Club, a member of the New Evening Shade Free and Accepted Masons, a Cherokee Village volunteer firefighter; he was secretary/ treasurer of Highland Lion’s Club, treasurer of Indian Hills Bowling Association, Treasurer and volunteer lake patrolman of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 4-1-9 WR for 45 years. Cyril was also a member of the Shriners and VFW.

He is survived by his wife Lynda Bertram of Cherokee Village and was the loving father of two daughters: Jama (Dave) Flagstad, Jennifer (Gary) Meis, and one son Jim (Juanita) Ancil. He was the wonderful grandpa of 9 grandchildren: Nick Thern, Nathan Halfman, Nicole Seth, Brandon and Brett Ancil, Nicole Meis, Julie Dilling, Brenda Schaefer, and Becky Flagstad, He was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren. He is survived by 3 sisters: Lucille Bertram, Pat Stenz and Mary Ann Flood, Along with numerous nieces and nephews. All of the Fond Du Lac, WI Area.

A private immediate service was held August 21, 2008. Memorial services in Fond du Lac will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Lakeside Park Pavilion. Military honors will be held promptly at 5:45 p.m. with the service to follow.
